Restaurants and Other Food Choices

While Bucerias may not be a large mega resort like Puerto Vallarta, it does have its share of quality restaurants, cafés, coffee shops, and bars.  Besides offering a wide range of food choices – from international to Mexican food and from home-style cooking to gourmet cuisine – these spots are great for socializing or simply enjoying the food.

Fine Dining

Since Bucerias is larger than the average town in the Riviera Nayarit, it also has a wider selection of restaurants with more variety and sophistication, such as Sushi and Asian cuisine; Greek, Italian, French, and Mediterranean foods; steak and seafood restaurants; and upscale bar and grills.

Casual Restaurants

These are informal establishments that include family-style restaurants, trendy cafés, Mexican food places, both open-air and enclosed, and some fast food places that serve hamburgers and even pizza.

Street Meat

Street vendors are the food stands or carts without seating, although some have chairs, and feature home-style Mexican food (comida corrida).  This affordable, delicious food is served by locals who ride through neighborhoods on large tricycles and mobile food carts, selling tacos, tamales, quesadillas,  pan dulce (sweet bread similar to pastries), and sometimes hot dogs or ice cream.

Carnicerias

Much like butchers or grocery store meat departments, Carnicerias sell all kinds of fresh meat, with some cuts marinated in delicious local spices or sauces.

Corner Stores or Grocers

Since there is only one supermarket on the south end of town, most of the local markets are corner markets and quick stores that have a small stock of various items, also offering snacks and ready-to-eat food and refreshments.

Farmacias (Pharmacies)

These are small drug stores for buying prescription medicine, over-the-counter drugs, toiletries, cosmetics, vitamins, and small snacks.  Usually, every town has at least one.
