Playa Los Ayala
About 20 minutes north of Sayulita is the sleepy beach town of Los Ayala in Bahia Jaltemba Bay. The town’s main beach, Playa Los Ayala, curves along a palm-lined cove for half a mile (nearly 1 kilometer) and is said to be among the most beautiful snorkeling and swimming beaches on Mexico’s Pacific coast and the Riviera Nayarit. The Pacific Ocean here is calm and clear and sometimes, instead of deep blue, has a dazzling aqua color that complements a gradually sloping, sparkling gold beach. Playa Los Ayala Beach also has a wonderful view of nearby Isla del Coral (Coral Island) and offers glass-bottom boat rides to the island and banana boat rides. While walking south along the beach, the shore becomes rocky and leads to hidden caves. Generally a quiet beach, it gets busy on weekends and holidays.
