Playa Gemelas
Beyond Playa Bucerias at the south end of Nuevo Vallarta are the twin beaches of Playa Gemelas. These side-by-side, curved beaches are near Los Arcos National Marine Park, a protected area for sea birds, such as pelicans and boobies, and for underwater rocks and coral reefs. Located at the base of the beautiful Sierra Madre Occidental mountains, these two small beach coves have soft light golden sand and calm, clear ocean water, abundant with tropical fish and sea life, such as endangered sea turtles and manta rays, which make it the perfect spot for swimming, snorkeling, and diving. Be sure to plan around the beach schedule, since it it’s open from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
